CC: What attracted you to COUPAR?
TK: I met Krista when we both worked at an interior design firm in the city. When she started COUPAR, I helped her with some of her web design and marketing projects and have been with the company ever since! I love that this has always been a woman-owned and woman-run company that started from the ground up. I’m proud to have been a part of this journey seeing the company grow from two people to 20+ over the last decade.
CC: How has your role evolved throughout the growth of COUPAR?
TK: I was fresh out of architecture school when I started working at COUPAR. My role has evolved organically over time as my life has changed. I worked remotely initially, then moved back to SF for a couple of years to work in the office in a more significant role; once I had my first son, I cut back to part-time and moved back down to Southern California, where I am now, but with two kids! I’m very grateful that my role has expanded and contracted to allow me to have time with my kids while still pursuing my career.
CC: Favorite Interior Design style?
TK: Having been in the design industry for over ten years, I appreciate many different styles. Still, when decorating my own home, I’d call my style “California Casual” - I like clean lines, neutral colors, and interesting textures.
CC: What is one item you could never live without?
TK: With two young boys I drink coffee, lots of coffee.
CC: How would most people describe you?
TK: Detail-oriented, a true introvert, patient, laid back :)
CC: What is your ideal way to spend a weekend day?
TK: A fun outing with my family - like a family bike ride to the park for a picnic
CC: What’s your favorite part of the creative process?
TK: I love the beginning and end of projects - brainstorming ideas, drafting initial design ideas, and then seeing projects come to life - launching websites and seeing an ad we designed in print.
CC: Who do you admire and why?
TK: My parents have always encouraged me to express my creative side and pursue my love of architecture and interior design.
CC: Your idea of a perfect meal?
TK: Cacio e pepe with a delicious glass of wine.
