Case Study: eCommerce Website
CHALLENGE:
Simon Breitbard Fine Arts asked COUPAR to develop a custom eCommerce website for their annual trunk show. The previous year they contracted with a different company and experienced many problems including:
The site crashed during peak visitor traffic right after launch.
Most art pieces on the site were one-of-a-kind, but customers were able to purchase larger quantities than SBFA had available due to a programming snafu. SBFA had to issue refunds or go back to their artists to create more pieces.
Customers were frustrated by the slow website and the inability to purchase artwork.
SOLUTION:
COUPAR developed an eCommerce with many custom features that addressed and solved the problems from the previous year. We sourced a high powered hosting plan that would be able to support the peak visitor traffic during the sale.Creative Director Tricia Kerr managed the project and worked closely with the SBFA team to ensure a seamless process from start to launch. Custom features included:
COUPAR built an interface that allowed the SBFA team to visually curate their art for sale.
SBFA could upload all the artwork (over 1000 pieces) via a spreadsheet.
COUPAR designed some additional features - including a "Shop by Artist" page so customers could browse art by the artist.
COUPAR built a custom feature so that SBFA could launch the site as a shopping preview without "add to cart" buttons. The cart buttons turned on at the launch of the sale.
Added a custom shopping cart timer - items were only allowed to be in the cart for 3 minutes.
RESULTS:
Sold out nearly half the site within the first hour of sale.
No duplicate orders were made.
The sale was more successful than any previous SBFA trunk show sale.
SBFA can use the same website structure for future Trunk Show sales.
