From Zero to Launch


Nanette Gordon began her career in finance operations and managed a full family life – all the while using design as a creative outlet and thinking about how to parlay her experiences to a new field. Her network of friends and family saw her talents leading to a signed design project. She knew she needed to formalize her business processes at the start to ensure the success of her new venture, so she attended a Coupar best practices educational event about how to manage and grow an interior design business. Nanette became a client immediately after seeing how Coupar could scale her company of one to accelerate the growth of her new business.


Coupar began the process of helping Nanette launch her business by assessing her project, understanding her goals and then establishing operations processes and guiding her through the interior design process. Every phase of a client’s project were addressed: project management, billing and product markups, construction management, sourcing, expediting and installation. Coupar developed Nanette Design’s brand in tandem with the ramp-up of her client work including the refinement of her brand identity, website development, and writing her brand messaging. To gain visibility quickly, we supported her participation with design submission guidance and PR/marketing support in the Napa Valley Showhouse her first year in business, and then the San Francisco Decorator Showcase the year after. With Nanette driving the vision, sales and client relationships, we provide coaching on guiding clients through the design process for mutual success, as well as PR, project management, sourcing and expediting to execute her vision. These activities have ensured steady pipeline growth including client referrals from the showhouses.
