What attracted you to Coupar?
TK: I met Krista when we both worked at an interior design firm in the city. When she started Coupar, I helped her with some of her web design and marketing projects and have been with the company ever since! I love the fact that this has always been a woman-owned and woman-run company that started from the ground up. I’m proud to have been a part of this journey and to have seen the company grow from two people to 20+ over the past ten years.
How has your role evolved throughout the growth of Coupar?
TK: I was fresh out of architecture school when I started working at Coupar. My role has evolved organically over time as my life has changed. I worked remotely initially, then moved back to SF for a couple of years to work in the office in a more significant role, once I had my first son I cut back to part-time and moved back down to Southern California where I am now, but with two kids! I’m very grateful that my role has been able to expand and contract to allow me to have time with my kids, while still pursuing my career.
Favorite Interior Design style?
TK: Having been in the design industry for over ten years I have an appreciation for many different styles, but when it comes to decorating my own home I’d call my style “California Casual” - I like clean lines, neutral colors, interesting textures.
What is one item you could never live without?
TK: With two boys at home (one and three years old) I drink coffee, lots of coffee.
How would most people describe you?
TK: Detail oriented, a true introvert, patient, laid back :)
What is your ideal way to spend a weekend day?
TK: A fun outing with my family - like a family bike ride to the park for a picnic
What’s your favorite part of the creative process?
TK: I love the beginning and the end of projects - brainstorming ideas, drafting up initial design ideas, and then seeing projects come to life - launching websites, seeing an ad we designed in print.
Who do you admire and why?
TK: My parents who have always encouraged me to express my creative side; and pursue my love of architecture and interior design.
Your idea of a perfect meal?
TK: Cacio e pepe with a delicious glass of wine
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
TK: Budapest. I spent a semester abroad there in college and fell in love with the city and its history
